As a single parent, I have raised two boys into wonderful young men. Working for over 20 years helping women in crisis and building strong organizations to serve others, I have committed to volunteering my time to support projects close to my heart. Currently, I am working on a PhD in Intercultural Education, and have a M.A. in Organizational Leadership ('02 ) from Biola University, a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCSB ('89) and two credentials for Single Subject
Teaching in California - English and Social Studies. I am passionate about issues facing us individually and as a nation, but am even more passionate and committed to serving my Savior.
Most People Don’t Know...
- I jumped out of an airplane for my 21st birthday.
- I cannot stand to have a cabinet left open. I am COMPLETELY Obsessive Compulsive about it.
- We found a puppy on the streets when we lived in China and adopted her and brought her home to San Diego with us. China?
- Well, we lived in China a year. I taught Social Studies and the boys went to school & taught. I did not learn much Mandarin – but, I’m still working on it.
- I was named Woman of the Year by the State of California (twice) in 2000 & 2006. Not easy for a Conservative in a wildly liberal state.
- My great-great grandfather, Thornton Chisholm, drove one of the first cattle drives from Cuero, TX to a railhead in MO in 1866
